The Proms: Everything You Need To Know [INFOGRAPHIC]

This year marks the 120th Proms season, with highlights including Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, War Horse Prom, and performances from orchestras around the world. The theme: Wartime Composers – in commemoration of the WWI centenary. ‘What makes us so interested in the BBC Proms? ‘, we hear you ask. Well, as of 2015, Warner Leisure Hotels is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our very own Last Night of the Warner Proms, with special performances from the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Inglis.

So excited for the traditional pomp and circumstance were we, that we decided to create the below infographic, detailing everything you need to know about the Proms. Find out who had the honour of being the very first Proms conductor, as well as why it came to be hosted at the Royal Albert Hall. Want to know whose music is likely to be performed? Those of you who have been following this year’s Proms will know that the Last Night of the Proms is always a truly special occasion, and this year is to be no different. With a sing along medley to mark the 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins, as well as the continued Strauss-anniversary theme and the usual Rule, Britannia! Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1, and Jerusalem to round off the season, 2014’s BBC Proms is sure to end on a high.

Bucks Fizz is an English pop group which achieved success in the 1980s, most notoriously for winning the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Making Your Mind Up. The group was formed in January 1981 specifically for the contest and comprised four vocalists; Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston. Jane McDonald to take the spotlight at Nidd Hall

It’s almost 15 years since former cruise ship singer Jane McDonald well and truly hit the big time by topping the UK charts with her self-titled debut album. After becoming an overnight success and gaining a huge following as a result of her appearance on the BBC docusoap The Cruise back in 1998, Jane has gone on to release numerous music singles, albums and DVDs, as well as co-present the hit daytime chat show Loose Women.
